What is nutrition monitoring?
First, we count calories: adding-up the energy values of proteins, carbohydrates and fats - collectively referred to as macronutrients. Second, we count non-energy micronutrients, such as fibre, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Then we count negatives: like flavourings, additives, e-numbers, modified-foods, and salt. Finally we add in the positive foods and the functional foods, the ones especially good for us.
